I miss the 90s like crazy (even more than words can say)!

Today I was attempting to go through some of the mess that is my room and I stumbled upon two of the most important albums of my tween years: Sabrina the Teenage Witch: The Album and an autographed copy of The Moffatts' Chapter I: A New Beginning (because so much had begun for those frosted-tips teen Canadian rockers before that landmark album). Needless to say, what happened next was a ridiculous nostalgia-filled dance party in my room.

I'm not sure if you were into either of these albums, but I'm sure you have your fair share of CDs that remind you of the good ol' days when YTV still played awesome shows (Breaker High. Clueless. Student Bodies. Are You Afraid of the Dark? Goosebumps. Ready or Not. The list goes on and on..), Lance Bass was still claiming to be into the ladies (remember his fling with Topanga!!?), everyone's favourite guilty-pleasure brother band still consisted of my homeboys Zac, Taylor and Isaac, ABC still believed that we really should be thankful for our Friday nights at home (The best TGIF line-up ever: Boy Meets World, Sabrina, You Wish & Teen Angel), Millionaire was still popular and Regis-filled, butterfly clips were still anything but kitschy, Pogs still were legit, Melissa Joan Hart was still the coolest girl around (Drive Me Crazy was my TOTALLY my life in Grade 5), Mary-Kate and Ashley still had vacation bfs somewhat close to their age, the hottest vampire boyfriend was still Angel, Archie was still single and free from his mismatched wifey (sorry, Betty always beats Veronica in my heart of hearts!), The Hit List was still the one and only source for all pop culture info (suck it Perez!), and Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. were still the prom queen and prom king of our little tweenage wannabee hearts!

Okay, maybe your retro-licious records don't remind you of those specific things but you know what I mean. As much as we try to resist our ridic childhood favs, we know in our hearts we still love them just as much as we did then because they remind us of a time when people weren't so pretenious and judgemental (case in point: no one said no to the boy band phenom, we simply chose a side (in case your wondering, I am forever an *Nsync girl)) and you weren't afraid to love semi-terrible things (sadly, I am still in this state of mind).

Pardon the overly sentimental list of awesomeness. I am just suffering from some serious late-90s cravings right now. Especially because of The Moffatts. Just looking at my autographed (!) CD takes me back to the day I saw the Canadian boys rock out at Playdium and I experienced my first genuine moment of Mom-barassment. As we approached Scott, Cliff, Bob and Dave at the meet n' greet booth, Mama Gagne looked at my crushes and said, "I hope you boys are wearing sunscreen because it's a scorcher out there today!". I literally hid behind my Britney Spears bucket hat and prayed that I would never have to attend an event at Playdium again. But that didn't happen because S Club 7 came there shortly after, and you know I couldn't miss out on that.

Before I go and most likely indulge in some more 90s worship via a viewing of vintage Dawson's Creek eps (I'm watching season 1 right now), let me just give you this drool-worthy wet dream of a list of pop tracks on the Sabrina soundtrack. All it's missing is Hanson (who totally made a cameo on the show!).

1. Walk of Life - Spice Girls
2. Abracadabra - Sugar Ray
3. Hey Mr. D.J. (Keep Playin' This Song) - Backstreet Boys
4. One Way or Another - MELISSA JOAN HART!
5. Kate - Ben Folds Five
6. Show Me Love - Robyn
7. Giddy Up - *Nsync
8. Slam Dunk (Da Funk) - Five (a.k.a. life)
9. Magnet & Steel - Matthew Sweet
10. So I Fall Again - Phantom Planet
11. I Know What Boys Like - Pure Sugar
12. Smash - The Murmurs
13. Doctor Jones - Aqua
14. Soda Pop - Britney Spears
15. Amnesia - Chumbawamba
16. Blah, Blah, Blah - The Cranberries

P.S. - The Sabrina soundtrack has "Kate" by Ben Folds Five on it! Even pre-teen me knew Mr. Folds had a serious jonesin' for Mr. Folds! I LOVE IT!
